McKinley comes back with a 28-24 win over Iggy

On their own 35 yard line up 24-21 late in the game, Franzinger decides to go for it on 4th down rather than punt and pin McKinley deep. McKinley gets the stop and scores the go ahead TD with the short field. Ignatius fans are beside themselves with the level of stupidity. 😂

Yea I was watching the game besides the Eagles game

if they make the first down he looks like a hero. McK qb fumbles game winner in the end zone and McK player falls on it for the TD

was not meant to be I guess

A little over 4 min. left. Franzinger probably thinking enough time to get the ball back, but why gamble when you have the lead and your defense had kept them off the board the entire second half. He was left with 52 seconds after the McKinley TD.

Top Regional Semi-Final Matchups:

R1: St. Edward (11-1) vs. McKinley (9-3) - It wasn't pretty, and Ignatius did its part to hand them the game late, but McKinley knocked off the improved Wildcats to prevent a Holy War rematch.  Ed's pitched its second straight playoff shutout by beating a GlenOak team that knocked off McKinley in week 9.  McKinley has some nice athletes (most notably LB Dante McClellan), but will be big underdogs in this one.

R1: Cleveland Heights (11-1) vs. Medina (9-3) - Medina lost to Heights in a regular season shootout that saw the teams combine for 114 points. The Bees had no answer for Mr. Football front-runner Marquis Davis who ran for 361 yards and 6 scores. Likewise, the Medina offense passed at will against Heights defense to the tune of 500 yards. Will either team be able to show some semblance of defense this time around? Whoever does wins.

R2: Olentangy (11-1) vs. Springfield (7-5) - Backed by the arm of Penn St. commit Ethan Grunkemeyer, the Braves have had one of their best seasons in years, with the lone setback to upstart Berlin. They've been teetering on the cusp of my top ten all year, and likely would have finished in the top ten if they beat Berlin. My only pause was that they didn't have to face any of the other Columbus big dogs like Pick North or Lincoln in the regular season. Springfield meanwhile appears to have gotten their shit together at the right time, knocking off rivals Wayne and Centerville in consecutive weeks after losing to both in the regular season. I still like Olentangy here because of their superior QB play, but no doubt Springfield has athletes to match and can win this one.

R3: Gahanna-Lincoln (12-0) vs. Upper Arlington (9-3) - UA slugged it out with Pick Central in a low-scoring triple overtime affair while GL won a surprising shoot-out with Grove City. UA will once again want to slow this game down, control the clock, and pay mistake free football. That's their MO. GL is the superiorly talented team and should win this going away it they can get ahead early, but if this game drags out into the 4th quarter then all bets are off.

R3: Pick North (11-1) vs. Hilliard Bradley (11-1) - Much like the other R3 game, Pick North has the talent advantage and will want to play ahead. Bradley played in a lot of tight games all year and wants to remain in striking distance going into the 4th.

R4: Moeller (8-4) vs. Mason (7-5) - Moeller was able to knock of rival St. X 10-7 last weekend to advance. Scoring the lone TD for the Crusaders was stud RB Jordan Marshall, thought to be out the rest of the season with an ankle injury that could require surgery. Looks like he's opted to gut it out and finish his senior season on the field. He makes Moeller the R4 favorites IMO. Mason, behind the strength of their defense, pulled off the upset of top-seeded Milford (although I think most of us thought they were fools gold). If they are to have a shot against Moeller, they will need another defensive masterpiece.

R4: Princeton (12-0) vs. Lakota West (10-2) - The Firebirds are playing their best football and get another shot at Princeton, a game they lost 18-3 in week 2. Princeton also appears to be firing on all cylinders, but hasn't had a real test in weeks. That could be an advantage for LW coming off a nice victory over Elder. Yes, Elder has not been good down the stretch, but still better than anyone Princeton has played in weeks.

R5: Hoban (11-1) vs. Riverside (10-2)  - Hoban is a solid favorite here, but Riverside is very good team this year and has a real gamer at QB in Mikey Maloney. It will take a small miracle to pull off the upset, but Riverside has the capability to make this a tough out for the Knights.

R5: Walsh Jesuit (11-1) vs. Hudson (9-2) - Aside from being completely dismantled by Hoban, Walsh been pretty dominant throughout the year behind a high-scoring offense. Hudson is normally a team that relies on their offense, but has been winning with defense this year. Their only losses were to D1 Cleveland Heights and Wadsworth in close games. This will be a nice game of strength on strength.
