In 2009 Lakeland and Bosco both beat DLS.

Then DLS won 13 games in Cali including a state title. No other losses

in 2011 STA beat DLS then DLS won 14 games and didn't lose anymore en route to another state title.

STA lost 3 games that year to Florida teams but beat 14-1 State Champ DLS and 12-2 State Champ Prattville,AL

I'm only adding to this because of your last paragraph qualifier to balance the editorializing

2009 -- DLS used 3 QBs in first four games and 2 best 2-way seniors (one an NFL RB and the other started as FB in PAC 12) were injured.   DBP and Lakeland were games 2 and 3 -- DLS trailed (2) or was tied at half (1) of first 3 NorCal opponents that they beat by a combined 140+ points the NEXT time they played (Inc one that was later that season which improved from a 7 point win to a 37 point win.  DBP consensus #1 team (game in NJ) and Lakeland was top 15 in USAT when bounced from FL playoffs

2011 -- DLS started off slow (narrowest NorCal win in 25 years in game 1; Barr Houston injured arm in Elite 11 comp;  STA often touted as a 3-loss team, but they imploded vs hyper-improving losing to Cooper City and not winning their 6-team district for only time ever after beating #1 team in country on road prior to DLS game.

2015 -- Trinity had a better night than DLS. Again, theyre not a typical 1st round loser as they beat both the CA and TX state champs before their 2 3-year staaeting studs in backfield (QB/ RB) dinged vs South Grand Prairie.  Finished as a top 50 team in any poll that went at least that high

DLS's offense relies on precision timing of a Swiss watch and tends to produce more improvement on average from beginning to end than most teams -- demonstratable almost every year
