With respect to the appeal, the crown jewel of allegations the defense can offer is campaign interference is a federal issue which really didn't belong in the states jurisdiction. Why should anybody involved in the appellate decision stick their necks out politically on an issue that could simply be passed on to the supreme court, especially if an overturn could allow Trump a shot at the presidency. If you truly believe this case was simply following the rule of law, then none of what I have stated is unreasonable or shouldn't happen. There's another aspect to this whole situation with significant financial implications that hasn't been brought to light. To some it will look like thievery, for other's it will simply be following the rule of law.
