Donald Trump Gets Worrying Sign From New Poll After Guilty Verdict

Anew poll delivered a worrying sign to former President Donald Trump after he received a guilty verdict in his hush-money trial.

On May 30, a jury found Trump guilty on 34 felony counts of falsifying business records in connection with an alleged hush-money payment made to the adult film actor Stormy Daniels during his 2016 presidential campaign. Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, who prosecuted the case, accused Trump of making the payment to prevent Daniels from speaking publicly about an affair she said she had with Trump.

The former president pleaded not guilty to all the charges and denied the affair. After the verdict, Trump called the trial a "disgrace" and "rigged."

YouGov conducted a "snap poll" hours after the verdict announcement to gauge whether Americans agreed with the jury's decision.

The poll asked, "Donald Trump was recently convicted of 34 charges, including for falsifying business records to reimburse his lawyer for payments made to an adult film actress. Do you agree with the jury that he is guilty of these charges?"

Of the 3,040 U.S. adults surveyed, 50 percent said they believed Trump was guilty, while 30 percent said they believed he was not guilty. Another 19 percent said they were not sure.

Polls also indicated that a guilty verdict could change the dynamic of the presidential race. Although Trump has maintained a lead over President Joe Biden, several surveys found that some Trump voters said they would not support him if he were found guilty of a crime. Political analysts told Newsweek the verdict could make it more difficult for independent voters to support Trump in November.

A plurality of Americans, 47 percent, also believed Trump received a fair trial, the YouGov poll found. The poll found that 37 percent of Americans said he did not receive a fair trial. Trump has accused Judge Juan Merchan of being biased against him and has argued that he could not receive a fair trial in Manhattan because of the borough's staunch Democratic lean.

Following the verdict, Trump told reporters: "The real verdict is going to be November 5 by the people. And they know what happened here, and everybody knows what happened here. You have a Soros-backed DA and the whole thing. We didn't do a thing wrong. I'm a very innocent man. And it's OK, I'm fighting for our country. I'm fighting for our Constitution. Our whole country is being rigged right now."

In a news conference after the verdict, Bragg praised the jury for its service throughout the trial.

In order for the law to work it can't discriminate based on your favorites...

I like Bernie Sanders...

But if this where him I'd advocate for him to be found guilty and punished as well...

I wouldn't be happy about it but when it comes to the law you can't pick and choose who to apply it too...

Wrong is Wrong

Guilty is Guilty

Idc if it's Trump or Obama...

I keep asking right voters what crimes Obama committed and they just bring up irrelevant baseless, evidence-less topics like ObamaGate, taking classified documents, treason, fake birth certificate.

No indictments exist. No charges filed.

Yet, Obama is a criminal and Donald Trump is innocent.

🤷🏻‍♀️ Go figure

In what way?

Just curious

In a way that so many Americans see what is going on with the Biden Administration’s sad attempt to derail Trump because they know they can’t beat him fairly.

Trump leading in all battleground states….popularity rising as this lawfare continues….AND……

Trump gaining greatly with black and Hispanic voters.

UH OH😰

Former President Donald Trump's conviction in New York stemmed from a $130,000 "hush money" payment his attorney Michael Cohen made to adult film star Stormy Daniels in the days before the 2016 election. Prosecutors said the deal was meant to keep voters in the dark about Daniels' allegation that she had sex with Trump years earlier, which he denies.

But the actual charges that Trump faced were far less salacious, and dealt with the comparatively mundane paperwork that was generated when he reimbursed Cohen for the payment.

Trump was charged with 34 counts of falsification of business records in the first degree, which is a felony in New York. He pleaded not guilty when he was arraigned last year.

In 2017, Cohen and Allen Weisselberg, an executive at the Trump Organization, reached an agreement about how (1) Cohen would be repaid for the $130,000 that he sent to Daniels in exchange for her silence. Weisselberg detailed the calculations in (2) handwritten notes that were shown to the jury at trial.

(1) How would Cohen be repaid?

Answer:

Each of those 34 counts corresponds to a record that stemmed from a series of monthly payments to Cohen in 2017.

Prosecutors say the funds [$35,000 a month] were meant to reimburse Cohen for the $130,000 he paid adult film star, Stormy Daniels before the 2016 election, plus a bonus and enough money to cover taxes. In exchange, Daniels agreed to remain quiet about an alleged sexual encounter with Trump from years earlier, which he denies.

Two witnesses involved in the payments to Cohen told jurors on Monday about how they were handled internally. Jeffrey McConney, the longtime controller for the Trump Organization, recalled how the chief financial officer of the company directed him to pay Cohen in monthly installments, beginning in February 2017.

At first, the checks were issued from a trust that was set up to manage Trump's assets while he was in office. They eventually came from Trump's personal account, a change that meant his signature was required.

Deborah Tarasoff, an accountant at the Trump Organization, told jurors about how she handled invoices from Cohen and got the checks signed. "We would send them to the White House for him to sign," Tarasoff said, referring to Trump. The payments were documented in ledger entries.

All he had to do was not cheat on his pregnant wife 😒 but by all means; keep painting him out to be America’s hero who can do nothing wrong.

Broman, my dude… I don’t know how many more times or ways I can tell you people this - I am a libertarian. I don’t care about Joe Biden or Joe Biden memes, and there’s no monopoly on thinking the Republican Party has no soul.

Joe Biden forced Donald J. Trump to cheat on his pregnant wife Melania with a pornstar?

And then he drove to Trump Tower and made a bunch of fraudulent entries in their company records and filed an amended tax return with fraud on it before he called the cops on him.

Since we're predicting the future my crystal "balls" see a tough road ahead for Mr. Trump...When the other jurisdictions in the country now after his ass get through he'll look tared and feathered.

None of which will be decided before the election. That is, unless they are dropped due to the upcoming immunity ruling from SCOTUS.

I wouldn't get my hopes up.  Merchan will impose minimum 5 yrs sentence and the verdict appeal will be denied.
