Hurdling players. Cutback blocks. Throw the ball away outside the tackles. Etc.

They have modified the cut blocking rule though......I believe in 2018. Read something about it.

You used to be able cut DBs down at the knees, but not any longer.

How different are the rules between GA and TX ?

Texas is the only state to play with NCAA Rules now that Massachusetts ditched the NCAA Rules for the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) rules. Everyone except Texas uses NFHS rules now....

"The Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association (MIAA) voted last summer to adopt National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) rules for the 2019-20 school year in football, volleyball and baseball. Bay State football has been contested under modified versions of NCAA rules for decades but state administrators believe the change is necessary to avoid potential legal issues, fall in line with 48 other states and earn a vote at the national NFHS level."

The Bingham, Utah HC was not a big fan of Texas rules when they played Trinity.

"The biggest difference is that you can cut block anyone on the field at any time," said Dave Peck, who brought his Bingham (South Jordan, Utah) team down to play in the Herbstreit Classic two years ago.

That doesn't sound like a really big deal — after all, a block is a block, right?

To a certain extent, yes, but it's also a matter of expectations. A defensive back who has never been blocked below the waist (a cut block is just that) in his high school career isn't going to be expecting that 220-pound lineman to suddenly dive for his knees.

"We'd be in position to make a play and our legs would be gone," Peck said about his 2009 game against Trinity – which was the only game Bingham lost that year, and in fact is the only game the Miners have lost in the past two seasons."

Probably one reason Texas has some ridiculously high scores in some of their games. Everyone is on the ground. lol

And everybody wants to play WR. Quality DBs are at premium right now in todays game. Throw in the RPO some of these offenses are hard to stop.

#LDT Logistics

Too long of a bus ride and too expensive a plane ride.  It cost us a pretty penny to play in Shreveport a few years ago and we only stayed one night.  It was an afternoon game and after the game the team loaded the charter buses and headed home.  I believe they got in something like 4:30 or 5 in the morning.  I think it is something like 850 miles Atlanta to DFW so a bus ride is a little tough unless you get there a couple of days early and then the hotel, food, and bus costs go up.

Probably some truth to that for defense. Not many kids saying I want to be cornerback. They want to go to the spotlight, game changing spots, DE, LB!

I’ll call bullshit

plenty of shutdown corners, if the kid is 6’3 and 240 lbs obviously he’s gonna wanna play DE

It’s known that over time Texas has gained somewhat of a legendary status when it comes to its high school football.

From the beginning days of Permian, Yates, and Judson, on to Southlake, Katy and Euless Trinity. Now, in the era of Allen, North Shore and Lake Travis. It is thought that Texas is home to some of the most iconic and awe-inspiring teams to ever step onto a football field.

I wonder how this idea could've gotten started.

It couldn't be the overwhelming nature of their own fans who inundate discussions and forums with myths of Texas greatness, could it?

🤔

At the rivals camp in Dallas they had 100 WRs to 40 DBs. If you notice most of the 24 class kids with offers are DBs. Everybody wants to catch TDs. Kids better learn how to cover.

Because in Texas the defenses don't press anybody. They play 6-8 yards off every receiver and cede large swaths of the field to the offense.

The North Shore-Atascocita game from 2019 was a perfect example.

It was a disgrace.

No kidding. I’m just saying it’s not a glory position kids seem to gravitate to. They would rather be on the offensive side of the ball. And on defense they’d want to be up near the los and closer to the action not lined up 10 yards down field off the receiver.

Ok super Dad

Yeah because assuming from 1 game that teams played cushion was enough to know that's why offensive numbers are up. You can show soft coverage and be playing a hard flat with Safety help. Was it man to man ? Cover 2 ? Cover 6 ? Cover 3 ? Cover 4 ? Cover 1 ? 0 coverage ? Was 3 with a cloud or sky ? Was it 2 man ? You and your butt buddy don't really know football. You sit up here and circle jerk each other all day. Im the idiot for even talking football with a guy from New Jersey. A state that has 1 good team this year
