No disrespect intended to Todd Dodge, he's a phenomenal high school head coach, but most of the schools that he's worked at are suburban with a crazy amount of resources. I think it's easier as a coach to go into those situations because the infrastructure is at least there. Meanwhile, when you're going into Dallas ISD schools, the resources are nowhere near the same (no indoor facility, no on campus stadium, among other things). Even Duncanville's facilities, while solid, aren't like a lot of other schools in DFW. I personally think Samples is the best HS coach in the state of TX purely based on his impact when he goes to a school; everywhere he's gone, that school has become elite. Duncanville hasn't won a state title, but they lost one on a Hail Mary and I think they win in 2019 if Ja'Quinden Jackson doesn't get hurt. Boling won the 2021 NCAA Indoor 200 meter title and ran. 45.28 4x400 split for a team that finished 4th in that race.
