When corrected for cost of living it does

The traditional measure dates back to the 30s if memory serves.

It is stupid. Unless you actually think living on $75k is just as easy in California or New York is the same as living in Texas.

For the very reason you mention, the Supplemental Poverty Measure was created.

It measures the 50 states and Mordor-on-the-Potomac.

The two worst poverty numbers per the latest SPM (2018):

1) Washington, DC   18.2%

2) California   18.1%

They are the worst by far.

Also among the worst (bottom dozen):

New Jersey

New York

New Mexico

concha thinks that every measure that doesn't fit his narrative is stupid.

It's also no surprise that @Bormio would be proven wrong on his actual words and that concha would swoop in to defend him by proposing a completely different measure than the one that was claimed.

Cost of living is very localized. Unless you think living on $75k in NYC is just as easy as Buffalo or Rochester.

Same for Miami to Gainesville or San Francisco to Redding.

California's poverty rate tracks with the national rate.

Bormio was wrong on a point of fact. This pisses you off so you change the subject.

Par for the course.

Andy, if you think a poverty measure that doesn't include cost-of-living makes sense, than you are more of a fool than I had ever imagined. And that's saying something.

Bormio was obviously referring to the SPM, which is a US Census measure. Hence his claim about California, which is indeed the most poverty-stricken state.

If you are good at one thing in life, Andy, it is being a total dick.

As it would be for either measure used.

It is, on average, more expensive to live in California than in the US as a whole. Undeniable.

Your desire to stick with an antiquated measure that even the Census thinks needed updating is noted.

Your "frantic desperation" to justify the leftist narrative is "breathtaking".  🤡

Mississippi is dead last in practically every quality of life measure.

I'm sure cryin' concha will find a bullshit measure that claims that they are the healthiest and most educated people on Earth.

I'm sure Andy will change the subject because he's getting his ass kicked.

🤣

Actually plenty of these boobs respond to me.

That's a nice deflection attempt though.

The truth is that @Bormio was utterly destroyed and not a single fact was presented by him and his goons.

Sounds more like you are just destroying your self.  Does anyone respond to their own posts more than you?   Maybe Redzone?

My desire to hold people accountable for the things they say, you mean.

@Bormio was wrong. Nobody forced him to be wrong. He just was.

But we know that you have bullshit measures waiting to be deployed at any moment. I remember your Labor Force Participation Rate whopper.

You posted stats that were a couple years old.  No winner there.  You claiming victory is fairly stupid.

It was from 2018 and poverty rates don't change one year to the next. They're pretty static.

He said that California has the highest poverty rate in America. They don't. It was 14th. So no amount of deflecting about years is going to magically take California from 14th to 1st.

This is just one of the many examples of how dishonest people like you are.
