There is a reason for the P5, and thats because MOST of the schools in the mid majors will NEVER be competitive with P5. FSU is a good example. They built themselves by going on the road and beating P5 teams back in the day. UCF wants home and home with P5 and its not happening with the major players. They HAVE to EARN it. UCF tried to step it up with games against Florida, but I don't think the UCF AD like how the deal was proposed. But UCF is still a pretty good squad tho. Yeah because it was 3 game deal with no home game for UCF It was 2 years in Gainesville and a neutral site, it wasn't UCF not earning respect, that deal gains them nothing

UF offered a Home and neutral. UCF should have got off their inflated ego and took it. Back in the 80s, BEFORE FSU was in the ACC they took a lot of road games against powerhouse blue bloods. When they started winning and gaining respect they started getting home and homes and built a powerhouse themselves. UCF doesnt think they need that route. They are wrong. Big 10 and pac 12 won't expand into FL because of obvious geographic reasons and probably big 12 for same reason UF would with 100% certainty block any FL team from joining the SEC because why would they, allowing another FL school into the market would mean sharing revenue and exposure in the state of Florida And the ACC hasn't given any indication of ever adding any FL teams to join Miami and FSU This is what I was saying in a early post, these P5 conferences operate a monopoly and will continue to control what teams are successful because they gain nothing from a new blood program rising to the top None currently, but it takes years to build a powerhouse program and you have to grovel a little and take a lot of high profile road games and WIN most of them. If they had a high profile like an FSU (I hate FSU but I use them in this example because they built themselves to what they are using this formula) they could work themselves into a power 5 or a better situation. You cant play a bunch of pansies, go undefeated and expect to get into the playoffs. They have to earn it. They want it to be given to them. They were looking for a fair deal. Mckenzie Milton was correct when he said that they were the better program at the time (better than florida), so what makes the Florida AD think that UCF doesn't deserve a home game in this whole ordeal? Even BAMA does home/home deals with lesser teams from power 5 conferences (teams that I'm pretty sure UCF woulda/would beat), so why can't they get a home game in return? There are loads of P5 teams who are among the worst teams in the country, it's not always a sign of who the best team or program is, it's usually who fit a geographic need decades ago and the people in charge of these conferences are greedy money hounds who don't want to share the pie No conference wants the expand as they are all content with the teams they have which is why I would like to see a system similar to what I drew up (with the help of @ngdawg since my spreadsheets looked like puke) where we see an expansion to the playoffs which still give the P5 teams the clear advantage but allows a team who comes out of nowhere like UCF to actually get their chance They may get blown off the field but at least they had an opportunity to make themselves into legends That's how you build programs up and build future powerhouses in the eyes of the fans in the first place

Columbiafan
How can a program like UCF build a program when they have to take a loss just to get a game with someone like UF in their general area UF would have made out like bandits and didn't UF offer a actual 2 home and 1 road game with USF? If UCF was given that same offer they would have taken it but to have a home game replaced with a neutral site that UCF would have had to then pay and rent a local Stadium instead of actually hosting is a shit offer and I would have told UF to kiss my ass if they gave me that offer too
