WOW!! What a great final drive!

Was at the 5A-2 title game before that and planned on taking in the entirety of the double header but left after Hamilton jumped out to the 14-0 lead. Missed an all-timer in favor of Applebee's wings and mozzarella sticks.

Now now, mozzarella sticks aren't too bad. I eat like 8 for snack, and I'm pretty sure that's unhealthy.

From an Ohio perspective,

2005 was the battle of 2 of the best defenses in state history. St. X vs. Colerain. Ive said for years that both defenses were on the level of 2011 Don Bosco.

They played each other to open the season in Week 1. The game was a Defensive battle to the last play, and X won 7-0.........They rematched in the 2nd round of the playoffs, and traded 2 FG'S each in regulation to go to OT tied 6-6. In OT Colerain kicked a FG to go ahead 9-6, but X hit a misdirection wheel route for a TD to win.

X's offense was solid but not great. Colerain was the same.

I guess you could argue that Colerain should probably be pretty close to X in the rankings, given the very tiny degree of separation when they played each other. However, Colerain didnt have any signature wins

HIghland Park vs Stephenville    (Matt Stafford vs Jevon Snead)

Calpreps had 5 Texas teams in the top 10.

8 in the top 14.

12 in the top 25.

17 in the top 35.

25 in the top 58.

The best team that Stephenville beat was something called Plainview and they only won 26-23.

Those were two pretty great games. I got to watch the playoff game in Mrs. Z's company box at PBS. Still wild thinking about watching a HSFB game with a glass of single malt lol.

Yea they were. Thats the way to watch the game!

That playoff loss was one of the toughest losses to swallow, probably only 2nd to 2003 Elder.

I still remember watching Darius swing out on the wheel and thinking "oh fuck...no one's on him."

Yep. The whole crowd thinking the same. Felt bad for Bam Lemons who was the strong side DB. At least after the game, Specht said that play worked almost every time in practice and was their "OT Play"

Has word of YouTube or even video for that matter reached the folks in South Georgia?

Maybe they're running the same plays? 🤣
Let's be real Georgia teams have always been shady when it comes to live streams etc during the season.   It's why we never get to see the Armwood/NG or DFB/Grayson/Buford type games SMH.

You're a genius...

Let's go for a FG on every 3rd down

Or we could just do Boise State (from the last minute and overtime of the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl) on repeat. North Gwinnett did beat Armwood on a WR pass to a TE, so maybe they did figure out our secret.

What’s even more interesting is the fact that St. Thomas Aquinas could find themselves in ANY top 25 ranking after these three results:

1.) Game ONE.......

(13-1) St Thomas Aquinas - 29

(7-2) Hollywood Hills - 24

Let’s not forget the near upset against the always dangerous; Hollywood Hills.

*Coming to a theater near you!....... 🎭

“In a world 🌎 .......where a Californian football team found themselves lost; in a strange, new world. One coach, embarks on a journey of a lifelime to topple the almighty King 👑 of Florida high football: The St Thomas Aquarium Raiders.”

The almighty (7-2) Hollywood Hills Spartans ended their magical season with an impressive national ranking of 1,698.

Falling in as the 59th ranked team in Florida; they nearly proved to be too much for the mighty St Thomas Aquinas raiders... Strike O.N.E.

2.) Game TWO.......

Next, I am all too enthralled to introduce to you the Dillard Panthers 🐆

More widely known as an American luxury department store chain, Dillard enters the discussion having won a hard-earned 5 games, while only falling to 3 opponents. One of those opponents were nationally accredited and only slightly..........slightly overrated King 👑 of Florida football: THE St. Thomas Aquarium Raiders.

The (5-3) Dillard Panthers ended their majestic season with a grand, national  ranking of 1,714.

This battle-tested group of panthers and their defensive prowess was more than enough to slow down the unstoppable force known as the St Thomas Aquinas offense....... Strike T.W.O.

3.) Game THREE.......

Or final story of the night involves the touching dreams of a local high school team. Reveling in the memories of their recent statewide success; hoping to once again assert themselves as a football force.

We begin our coverage in the small, populated city of Pompano Beach 🏖 where..... *Fast Forward*..........

The Blanche Ely Tigers 🐅 are no stranger to championship success; having just recently won a title in the year of 2002, the 1,470th ranked Tigers are looking to once again reign supreme in the Sunshine 🌞 State.

Standing in their way; St. Thomas Atrocity will be looking to find their own way back to the championship throne; seeking their 4th State Championship overall, and 1st of the decade:

(13-1) St Thomas Aquinas - 21

(7-3) Blanche Ely - 19

Strike T.H.R.E.E.

Funny thing is you are using the computer rankings for this era.   Those numbers meant nothing at that point.
