That may be true, but we'll never know unless the games are played. Hoping someday before I die.

If you knew what you were seeing while watching games then you would know/understand without seeing the game played.

I figured one day, you guys would at least pretend to understand what it is you are watching. I mean, y'all could wing it or something for a minute, but nah.

I get it though. I know that you guys can't understand how a team of tiny, undersized and inexperienced hawgs could ever beat a team loaded with as much talent as money can buy and as much as you can get to hang around once the starting roster is set.

It's tough to understand until your team is in the graveyard across the street from Mack Tharpe too.

Grayson and Marietta were man enough this season to take on some elite, power privates. Let's see if CQ follows suit soon. Until they do, they'll always be recognized as just a regional power. And there's absolutely nothing wrong with that. To each their own. Not every public aspires to be as good as MC.

Being good has nothing to do with playing OOS. Nor vice versa... That doesnt even make sense.

Recognized by who? When people around the country think about Georgia high school football, they think about Colquitt County. That's pretty good in my book.

Dude, I bet your eyes are brown and your breath stinks because you are so full of shit.

Nobody in Moultrie cares if Mr. Sizzle Seller recognizes Colquitt as anything other than your white whale. xD

Sure it does. MC has beaten the likes of DBP, BG and STA. And challenged IMG and SJC. Has any other public come close to this? They're considered a nationally relevant, public juggernaut. The best public in the USA because of these games. They've put their indelible stamp on the world of hsfb. Forever. No other public can say this. They ooze courage and confidence unlike the posers.

Don't make me go get Fred to post that Number One Public in the Country article from 2016 again!

I'll fucking do it!

Don't press me!

RAMSEY – Jalen Berger defies comparison.

The Don Bosco junior does things that normal high school football players don’t.

Football has evolved at every level in an effort to make the game safer. It’s still hard-hitting and exciting, but more predicated on speed and skill. And Berger, 17, is the prototypical playmaker for the game right now. He’s 6-foot, 190-pounds of liquid mayhem on defenses.

Hand him the ball? Sounds good.

Throw him the ball? Defensive coordinators around North Jersey lose sleep over the thought of Berger in open space.

Snap it to him? That’s unfair.

“He’s obviously an extremely talented running back,” Don Bosco coach Mike Teel said. “He could play receiver. He could play corner. He could play safety. He could grow into a Will [weak-side] linebacker. I think that’s part of the reason his interest level is so high from the top college programs.”

It would almost be easier to list the schools that haven’t offered Berger, but let’s start with a list of who has.

According to Rivals, you’ve got Alabama, Florida, Kentucky, LSU, South Carolina and Tennessee. And that’s just the SEC.

You’ve also got Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State, Penn State and Rutgers.

There are many more, and probably more to come. He is considered the top prospect in New Jersey in the Class of 2020.

But Berger isn’t one to blow his own horn. He’s soft-spoken, born and raised in Newark, the sixth child to Kesha and Terrance. He's grown up on the South Side, just down the street from Weequahic High School.

“They don’t let things get to my head,” Berger said, smiling softly. “I keep myself humble. I don’t talk about my offers. I don’t let it get to me, when I get an offer, I am happy, but I just say OK and carry on with my day.”

Berger started playing football when he was nine. He got his first taste of organized football with the East Orange Jaguars and later the famed Brick City Lions, the well-regarded youth program out of Newark.

Back then, Berger played fullback and (scary thought) linebacker.

“I wanted to be a running back, but basically I was the biggest person on the field so they used me to block and play middle linebacker,” he remembered. “I never used to run the ball until the last couple of years of Pop Warner football.”

“The first time I saw him was at the Gamechangers workout and I saw him at spring in a camp. He and a couple of teammates came for 'Ironman for a Day' on campus,” Teel said. “I thought he was long, super athletic and sneaky fast because he’s a long strider. He was basically able to play every position on the field.”

Berger had gone to a few Don Bosco games growing up and was wowed by the atmosphere. He liked the idea of playing for Teel and Greg Toal.

“I started off in freshman football and coach Toal came to watch me practice and he told me to up the hill and come play on varsity,” Berger said. “I saw Tyler Friday and some of the big guys and it took some time to adjust to.”

That’s Berger being humble again. An injury forced him into the starting line-up in the Ironmen’s third game of the season against Archbishop Moeller (Pa.). The Ironmen lost, but a star was born. Berger made big plays in the passing game and the running game and helped the Ironmen reach the Non-Public 4 semifinals, where they lost to Paramus Catholic.

Berger said he didn’t pay much attention to the details when Toal was dismissed after that season. But he did hear the transfer rumors. Remember, in the 21st century, every high-profile high school athlete seems to transfer at one point, but Berger again seems different.

“It’s just a rumor that starts every year. I don’t know where it comes from. I don’t want to transfer. I love this place too much,” Berger said. “I just trust the process. I don’t like flipping on teams. I have been here for three years, why transfer now? It makes no sense.”

The Ironmen used to rule New Jersey high school football, but enter Friday’s showdown against St. Joseph at 3-3 after an overtime loss to St. Peter’s Prep. But every time Berger suits up for the Ironmen he gives them a chance at victory, and the combination of he and Kyle Monangai has become a potent one-two punch out of the backfield.

“He’s taken over a leadership role on the team,” Teel said. “We’ve asked him to know the offense better so we are able to move him around more.”

It takes a little digging to find out what kind of person Berger is. He’s the kind of kid who played the piano and violin in middle school, who would much rather talk about his teammates than himself, who is thankful for his family for their support, and sees victories ahead for Don Bosco.

But his coaches and opponents know, deep down, he’s one of a kind.

Amazing neither BG,STA or DBP has beaten MC but do you wanna hear their record against top GA teams?

I like MC though I've had family come through MC...

The committee needs to keep SA and SJM out of the top four seeds!!

Massey has the Power 5 on top, while Freeman (CalPreps) tucks in a few publics ahead of DBP.  Advantage Massey for NJ.  Advantage Freeman for NE lol.

PC had a very nice run and longer than most predicted post Partridge... now they are a strong candidate to join the artist formerly known as  list.
