Was a stellar game. Both teams should be recognized for having awesome defenses. Lots of flags for both sides but both teams showed good sportsmanship. The lead was back and forth. Both Offenses were keeping the Defenses off balance the whole game. Cocoa fell on a muffed punt in the endzone to score the first points. BTW then scored twice to take back the lead on long pass plays. In the 3rd Quarter Judson ran it in from the 1 and a good xtra point tied it up 14-14. Cocoa then blocked a punt to set up a 27 yard FG to take back the lead making it 17 - 14. BTW then took it 80 yards with the help of 2 big pass interference calls against Cocoa to make it a 21 - 17 game going into the 4th quarter. Cocoa needed to put together a 78 yard drive to take the lead back with just under 5 minutes left to play. Judson threw for 19 and 28 yards and Hawkins had a hard fought run for a 1st down to set up the last Cocoa TD. With just under 1:30 seconds left in the game. Cocoa kicked it deep for a touch back and sacked Richardson to stop any chance of a comeback.

Cocoa had an early Punt Return called back because of an iffy roughing the kicker penalty. Looked like the Cocoa defensive player was blocked from behind when he was pulling back causing him to glance off the kicker. Could have been a no call but the kicker rolled around enough to pull the flag. Several calls could have been iffy for both sides but that was the only TD called back. The Ref's never seemed partial to either team. BTW fans may see it another other way when a flurry of flags pushed the Tornadoes back in the 4th and out of FG range for a 4th and 45 yards around the 50. However, they have to be honest and admit it was a fair game.

In the end BTW looked tired the last 5 minutes of the game. I think the long bus ride finally got them. Had they played in Miami I have a feeling the score may have been 4 points in BTW's favor. Richardson is a special QB. When he isn't under a lot of pressure he is deadly accurate. Will enjoy watching him develop in the coming years.

Surprise of the night was the 8th grader, #66 Dada White, for Cocoa. He was in Booker T's backfield all night and coming up with several sacks. He also had a blocked punt and was disrupting plays the entire game. He will be a force to reckon with in the next 4 years.

Cocoa 0 7 10 7 - 24
BTW 0 14 7 0 - 21

The year the Cubs break the curse, so does Cocoa. It was one hell of a game.

Hah, STA may have played BG better, but Cocoa beat the team that beat them.

They finally got that monkey off of their backs. How healthy is Cocoa? At least you guys have a week to recover from what must have been an emotional victory. Go Tigers beat Bolles!

I don't always dismiss that weak SOS analogy.  Bolles has been destroying their opponents. They are ranked in the top 100 after this weekend by Maxpreps. You know how them Florida Private schools always get them athlete's. Bolles has all of Duval to pick from.

It will be a battle I'm sure. One that I hope Cocoa will be ready for. They need to play equal too, or better than they played against BTW IMHO. Cocoa's not going to get the muffed punt recovery in the end zone for an easy TD against Bolles.

If Cocoa wins. That ties them with BTW at 4 championships each. BTW did it in consecutive years which is very impressive.

One thing... If Cocoa wins, it will keep the trophy in South Florida.

Btw has 5 titles. Don't forget 2007. Awesome team. Brandon Harris and the boys.

I knew Cocoa was good, but did not think they COULD beat BTW.. ,who may have been a little cocky. That said,Cocoa, ever since they beat BC in Jersey with Folstan and even before that, deserve credit.  They have a good coach and always come to play...I wish them well here..Another team in Fla,Mainland never fails to crumble against good teams..They run over cream puffs and then, when it counts and against the good teams, fold up..,

Uh Oh, Dan in Daytona may want to have a word with you behind the woodshed, Don't go smack talkin his Mainland team.

It's too bad that the Cocoa vs Mainland game was not rescheduled after the hurricane. Several other teams were able to play games on the following Monday after it passed through.

How did you guys matchup with Mainland? If the game went through could Cocoa have beaten Mainland?

I think we would have played to each others weaknesses. Cocoa is ranked 75 by MaxiPads, while Mainland is ranked 73.

Mainland throws quite well which  Cocoa had to work on their pass defense all year to get ready for BTW. Early in the season Mainland may have beaten Cocoa if the Mainland passing game was working, but by the time the playoffs were in swing, Cocoa's pass defense had been tested and tested and the leaks were plugged, which BTW found out when they came to town. Yes, BTW completed more than they missed however Jones added the final touch when they used BTW's play book the week before. It really helped our pass defense.

Cocoa runs hard with the off chance of a long pass play or screen. Hawkins is a speedster and very elusive. King is smash mouth and good for 3 or 4 tough yards up the middle and if he gets to the secondary he is very hard to stop. Judson is the JuJu man. He takes it when the defense is keying up on King or Hawkins and has a little of both Hawkins and King's running abilities. Very hard to tackle if he gets a step or 2 in the clear. Or he may throw a pass. He was healthy most of the season with a  QB rating of 134 or around that and had very few bad throws at the end of the season.

It would have been a great game with it being played in Cocoa.
