OT: Red Rocks

Been there quite a few times. On a nice summer night it is hard to beat. Get there early and bring some food and drink for the parking lot, or bring some food in with you if you'd like (no alcohol allowed past the parking lot -- they do sell it inside though), and enjoy the music and the atmosphere.

You interested in other things to do in Denver while you're here, or at Red Rocks specifically?

Other things also.  We will be there for 3 days. Probably stay around the Lakewood area. Looks like it's close to where we need to be.

Lakewood is close to Red Rocks, for sure, and about 15-30 minutes from downtown Denver depending on where in Lakewood and the time of day. It's also on the west side which gives good access to the mountains if you are interested in heading up there.

If you like restaurants and bars/breweries, LoDo is a popular district in downtown Denver. It's about a 10x10 block area that goes from the Pepsi Center (Nuggets and Avalanche) to Coors Field (Rockies), with Union Station in the middle. Very walkable. The lightrail W Line gets people from Lakewood to Union Station very easily.

Personally, I'd suggest a drive for lunch one day up in the mountains, maybe to Breckenridge (1 1/2 hour drive) or at least Evergreen (1/2 hour drive from Lakewood/Red Rocks). If you go to Breckenridge, which is I-70 90% of the way, I'd recommend detouring and going over Loveland Pass either on the way up or the way back (12,000 ft elevation at the summit, and only adds about 15-20 minutes to the drive...very unique tundra above treeline..like being on another planet...pretty cool). There are also plenty of hiking trails close to Lakewood. Staunton State Park and Golden Gate State Park are a couple. You can walk around the hills there as long or as short as you'd like.

Remember to bring a sweatshirt and a rain jacket to Red Rocks, just in case. You normally don't need them, but if you do you'll be happy you have them.

Awesome. Thanks a bunch for the info! We do plan on a drive in the mountains as we will be renting a car, and we will take your advice. And the area downtown we will also do, for sure. Sounds great!  Again,  thanks!
